7 Lasting Self Motivation Tips

With the fast paced lives we all currently lead it is very easy to just keep your head down and keep moving. This may work to a point, but it is not the healthiest way to approach our daily lives. It is of the utmost importance that we each find time for ourselves every day. Follow our top seven tips for lasting self motivation and enjoy the positive difference it can make.

1. Make the Choice:

In order to remain positive throughout the day you have to decide to do so. It’s not always easy as we get bogged down by stress and continual bumps in the road, but you are able to make a choice in the moment of stress and take a breather and remind yourself: how I feel right now is in my control. It may feel a little silly at first, but try it. It works.

2. Start Small

Find what makes you happy and what puts you in a positive space. Put up posters, picture frames and little reminders in your office space and at home so that they may bring a sense of calm into your daily routine.

3. Open Your Mind

For many of us there are significant things that we miss each day, as we are too focused on what we are busy with in that moment. Take the time to notice things around you that are positive, it will remind you of what is positive in your life.

4. Surround Yourself with Positivity

That friend or colleague who moans in your ear each day is in fact not adding any value to your emotional well being. We are not saying you should ignore those in need of a little help or support, but make the effort to be around people who have positive things to say, it will uplift your spirits without you even realizing.

5. Take Action:

When you are in a slump and struggling with a particular project or concern, step away and focus on something else. Clear your mind and return to the present issue later as you will be better able to deal with it then.

6. Be Aware of Yourself:

Take note of when you feel truly motivated and positive and why these feelings come about. What adds to your emotional happiness and what can you do to keep your emotional cup filled? Find this out and when you start to feel your motivation waning, remember what makes you smile and find a way to get back to that point.

7. Keep focused

Remember that your emotional outlook and ability to perform each day is up to you. You are responsible for yourself and you are the key to your own motivation. You don’t have to achieve perfection immediately, it takes time and effort. Allow yourself the room to grow and take these small steps each day, they will make a great difference to your life.
